Salesians

Salesians

St John Bosco College is a school in the joint trusteeship of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Southwark and the Salesians of Don Bosco.

With the Sacred Heart Parish Church and the Salesian Community House next door, we are very much part of the Salesian mission in Battersea and beyond.

Founded by St John Bosco in the 19th century, the Salesian order first had a presence in Battersea in the 1890s, one which has remained here ever since.

The Salesian family has grown from humble beginnings in Turin, NE Italy to worldwide family with schools, parishes and community groups in over 130 countries across the globe.

Salesians around the world together form a map of individuals consecrated to God, who live in communities in fellowship and service of the young, especially the poorest of them.

Currently there are 14,299 Salesians in 134 nations, with 90 Provinces and 1865 Houses.  Here is a vast Salesian movement of considerable pastoral energy to be found in various and different continents, cultures and societies in order to educate by evangelising and to evangelise by educating.
