At SJBC, we believe homework plays a vital role in supporting students’ academic success. Students are set regular homework, which is assigned via Arbor - our online platform that also serves as a homework diary for both students and parents to track tasks and deadlines.

Homework tasks typically fall into one of three strands:

• Pre-learning – introducing students to new content ahead of lessons
• Consolidation – reinforcing and embedding knowledge taught in class
• Application – encouraging students to apply their learning in new contexts

Some subjects may set homework using specific online platforms, such as Sparx and Seneca, These platforms are listed on the homework platforms poster below.

To support strong learning habits, parents are notified via email if homework is not completed. This will result in a 30-minute detention the following school day.
