GIRLS IN MATHS

On Tuesday 7th February SJBC proudly held a workshop entitled ‘Girls in Maths’, hosting a number of schools in the area and welcoming some special guest speakers from UCL.

Led by Miss Abdullah from the SJBC Maths Department, the exciting day of workshops, lectures and puzzles invited Year 8 girls to explore Maths outside of the curriculum, with sessions run by notable females PhD Mathematics students. Topics on the day included: Understanding Maths in Real Life Contexts, Exploring Properties of Unusual Shapes and Experimenting with Mathematical Puzzles.

Our thanks go to our guest speakers Niki Kalaydzhieva (pictured), Eleanor Doman, Jenny Davey & Carmen Arnau and the staff & students from Southfields Academy, Swakeleys School, Grey Coat Hospital School, Westminster Academy, Harris Battersea, Saint Gabriel’s College, Blessed Hugh Faringdon Catholic School.
