St John Bosco College has not only been a school to me, but it has been like a second home, where everyone feels welcome and motivated to strive for their best. By being a Salesian school, it has helped me to understand the combination of love and work. Don Bosco said “Without confidence and love, there can be no true education. If you want to be loved…you must love yourselves, and make your children feel that you love them.” The school achieves this by the respect that is shared across staff and students, where every pupil is known by their name and not a number. This makes sure that every child is noticed and not left behind on their journey through education, and that they are achieving and exceeding their targets and aspirations. Don Bosco also said: “The school was not the end; it was rather the instrumental means for improving the way of life.” This is carried forward in our school as every student has the opportunity of staying in the Sixth Form, and continue in this welcoming community that I am very proud to be part of.
Hi. My name is Jaber Hussain and I am proud to say that I am Head Boy of St John Bosco College.
When I came to this school I had the goal of becoming a senior prefect and through hard work and dedication I was privileged enough to become Head Boy. This school is very important to me because although we are all of different years , genders and ethnicity, we all work together to help each other achieve and I feel like that’s what makes us different from other schools. Since year 7 I feel like the school, both teachers and students, have taught me many valuable lessons that I will never forget and that I will carry into adulthood, ranging from how to give speeches to how to conduct yourself in interviews.
