Access Oxbridge

St John Bosco College aim to enhance students' cultural capital by exposing them to the key elements of contemporary discourse and debate through seminars, talks led by industry experts and external visits.  To further implement this into our school, we offer the ‘Access Oxbridge’ programme which is designed for students who demonstrate high levels of academic potential.

In addition to the St John Bosco College careers education programme, 'Access Oxbridge' introduces students to Oxbridge and Russell Group graduates who have specialised in Law, Medicine and STEAM (Sciences, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics).  Over the course of this year, students have considered the role of bias in the legal system, the impact of increasing automation on tomorrow’s workforce and the process of developing innovative treatments to fight cancer.

It is our aspiration that by establishing connections between the curriculum and content covered on the programme, students will leave school culturally enriched and ready to take their place in the world. Access Oxbridge's programme selection criteria focuses on academic excellence and an outstanding work ethic.

Internal students are invited to enrol on the Oxbridge 11 phase of the programme at the end of Year 10 and are encouraged throughout the programme to achieve at least 6 GCSEs at grade 7 or above, including English and Maths to progress to Oxbridge 12 and 13.

External students, after being assessed through their course selection and guidance meetings, will be invited to participate in Oxbridge 12.
