BOOKS FOR STUDENTS

SJBC Year 7 and Year 8 students each receive a book for Christmas.

SJBC staff and students warmly welcomed Battersea MP Marsha de Cordova together with staff from Battersea Power Station and their colleagues from Sir Robert McAlpine with a presentation of a book for each student as an early Christmas present.

Both companies had generously donated brand new, popular young adult titles by way of an on-line wish-list, and the celebration was a surprise to the students.

Marsha de Cordova spoke enthusiastically about the importance of valuing reading and how books should be treasured.

Headteacher Mr Dunne reiterated how important reading is to students but also to remember that someone they didn't know had kindly donated the books as an act of generosity, reaffirming that is is 'often better to give than to receive.'
